Psychosocial Counselling

Call for applications for the recruitment of a qualified psychologist or social worker to provide psychosocial support for the dialogue project between LGBTI people and religious leaders-

1. Background

Colombia Diversa is an organisation that works to ensure the full realisation of the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual, transgender and intersex (LGBTIQ+) people through litigation, advocacy, research, capacity-building and cultural transformation.

As part of one of its projects, the organisation facilitates dialogue and builds bridges between LGBTIQ+ people and religious leaders or communities, with the aim of strengthening mutual recognition, promoting opportunities for conversation, and helping to reduce the prejudices and barriers that hinder the exercise of rights.

As these spaces may address personal experiences and emotionally sensitive issues, the project needs to incorporate a psychosocial support component that helps to foster an environment of care, trust and well-being for the participants.

2. Purpose of the contract

To engage a psychology or social work professional to provide psychosocial support for the project’s activities, assisting with the design and implementation of emotional care strategies and strengthening the team’s capacity to facilitate safe spaces for dialogue between LGBTI people and religious leaders or communities.

3. Activities

The successful candidate will carry out the following tasks, amongst others:

–              To provide psychosocial support during the dialogue sessions organised by the project.

–              To design and implement strategies for emotional support and care for participants and the facilitation team.

–              To identify potential psychosocial risks associated with the carrying out of activities and to make recommendations for managing them.

–              To provide technical input to strengthen the psychosocial focus of the methodologies used by the project.

–              Attend planning and follow-up meetings as required.

–              To support the systematisation of learning related to the psychosocial component.

–              To produce the reports and deliverables agreed upon in consultation with the project co-ordinator.

4. Profile required

Psychologists or social workers with between one (1) and three (3) years’ professional experience are eligible to apply.

Particular value will be placed on experience in one or more of the following areas:

–              Psychosocial support.

–              Facilitation of community groups or processes.

–              Human rights.

–              Peace-building or conflict transformation.

–              Gender perspectives and sexual and gender diversity.

–              I work with social organisations, faith communities and dialogue initiatives.

The successful candidate must live in Bogotá or Bucaramanga and be available to travel occasionally when required by the project.

5. Type of contract

Contract for the provision of services.

The nature of this contract entails technical and administrative autonomy for the performance of the contracted activities. Consequently, the contractor may organise their working hours independently, in accordance with the schedule of activities and the agreed deliverables.

A time commitment of approximately twenty (20) hours per week is expected, equivalent to a part-time role within the project.

6. Fees

The fees shall amount to TWO MILLION FIVE HUNDRED THOUSAND PESOS ($2,500,000 COP) per month, subject to the submission of an invoice and the fulfilment of the agreed deliverables and activities.

7. Place of performance

The contract will be carried out primarily in Bogotá and Bucaramanga. Some activities may be carried out remotely, whilst others will require in-person attendance or occasional travel.

8. Monitoring

The contract will be overseen by the Colombia Diversa project coordination team, which will carry out technical monitoring of the activities and approve the deliverables.

9. Duration

The contract will run for 4 months, starting from the date the contract is signed.
