This September 24, eight Latin American countries will meet in Mexico with a single objective, to share information that has been collected from 2014 to 2018 in a regional database on cases of bias-based violence against LGBT people, in order to initiate actions for protection, access to justice, reduction of impunity, and generation of mechanisms for prevention against violence through the Violence Information System, SInViolenciaLGBTI.
In this vein, we welcome all governments, international organisations and interested individuals to participate in this initiative that could lead to public policies and best practices to prevent and denounce acts that violate the human rights of LGBT citizens.
This work to bring about change in the region has been driven by the following organisations: CATTRACHAS (Honduras), COMCAVIS TRANS (El Salvador),The National Network on Sexual Diversity and HIV (Guatemala), LETRA S, AIDS, Culture and Everyday Life (Mexico), the Paraguayan Sexual Diversity Network,ADESPROC Freedom (Bolivia) and LIFS (Peru).
