Our Mission Statement

Colombia Diversa seeks to ensure inclusion, recognition and respect for the human rights of the LGBTIQ+ population in Colombia. human rights of the LGBTIQ+ population in Colombia.

Since 2004 we have been fighting for the rights of those who have been discriminated against for loving, being or appearing "different". In order to live in an equal society for all, we carry out strategic litigation, advocacy and research on the human rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people in Colombia.

Our Board of Directors is made up of leaders with backgrounds in human rights, economics, communications and politics. Each member brings their experience to guide our actions.

Marcela Sánchez Buitrago

Marcela Sánchez Buitrago es trabajadora social egresada de la Universidad Nacional de Colombia y cuenta con una maestría en Construcción de Paz de la Universidad de los Andes. Feminista y defensora de derechos humanos, ha dedicado su carrera a la promoción de la justicia social y la igualdad. Se desempeña como directora de Colombia Diversa, una de las organizaciones más influyentes en la defensa de los derechos de las personas LGBTIQ+ en Colombia. Bajo su liderazgo, la organización ha fortalecido su papel como referente nacional e internacional en la lucha contra la discriminación desde la incidencia política, la investigación y el litigio estratégico.
