Technical Coordination of the SIn Violencia LGBTI Regional Network

Within the framework of a series of projects operated by Colombia Diversethe Network Without LGBTI Violence presents the following terms of reference for those who may be interested in applying for the position of Network Coordinator.

1.Position: Technical Coordination of the Regional Network SIn Violencia LGBTI

2. Description: The SInViolencia LGBTI Regional Network is the first network of organizations that monitors homicides of LGBTI people in Latin America and the Caribbean, thereby also designing and implementing dissemination and advocacy strategies at the regional level. The selected person will work on tasks that include the coordination of members of the Network, research, registration and dissemination of data, as well as leading logistical aspects such as meetings and spaces of the same. The person will be under the supervision of the Human Rights Area of Colombia Diversa, as well as the Network's Assembly.

3. Duties of the position:
a) Coordinate regional networks under the Technical Secretariat of Colombia Diversa.
a) Coordinate the research, documentation, registration and dissemination of homicides and other serious human rights violations against LGBT persons that advance the comparability of data in the region (Latin America and the Caribbean).
b) Facilitate articulation processes between the network's organisations to develop communication strategies, disseminate the figures, accompany pedagogical processes and plan strategies for regional and national advocacy.
c) Lead the implementation of the meetings, assemblies and regional meetings of the SInViolencia LGBTI network.
d) Support the institutional strengthening of Colombia Diversa with a view to developing regional lines of work in Latin America and the Caribbean.
e) Supporting reporting to third party funders on projects in the area of human rights.
f) Support the strengthening of local organisations and partners in Colombia.
g) Support the design and development of activities to disseminate the work of the Human Rights Area and the human rights situation of LGBT people in Colombia.
h) Support and participate in the development of activities and events of the Human Rights Area.
(i) Submit monthly reports on the activities of the office.
j) Other functions assigned by the Coordination of the Human Rights Area of Colombia Diversa in the development of the functions of the position.

4. Type of contract: Contract for the Provision of Services, which is governed by the Legislation, rates and taxes of the Republic of Colombia. The contract will be signed for a period of six months with the possibility of renewal depending on performance.

5. Value: Monthly fees will be agreed according to experience, academic background and performance in the evaluation process along with placement within the institutional salary scale. The value will be subject to fees, taxes and withholdings.

5.2. Clarifications on the monthly value of the contract.

  • Change in value. The value may vary depending on the exchange rate between Colombian pesos and dollars on the day the payment is negotiated each month. It may also vary according to the rates generated between Colombian pesos and the currency of the bank account where the payment will be received. Colombia Diversa will not assume positive or negative differences caused by exchange rates.
  • Funds in Colombia. The funds for the first year of this position are already monetised in Colombian pesos for the first contract period.
  • Taxes and Withholding Taxes. Likewise, please note that according to Colombian legislation, the values may be subject to additional taxes, duties or obligations. Withholdings at source for payments abroad to foreigners are of twenty percent (20%) or as established by the Colombian Legislation in force. In case of being a resident in Colombia, you must pay social security and submit payroll with each collection account of the contract.

Bank Fees for International Transfers. Colombia Diversa will not assume the costs for international transfers and they will be charged to the monthly amount.

6. Dedication: Full time.

7. Requirements:

a) Studies.

  •  Professional in law, social sciences or international relations.
  •  Postgraduate studies related to gender, human rights, international law, international relations, among others.

b) Experience.

  •  At least five (5) years of general experience.
  •  3 years of specific in the following terms:
    2 years of experience in international advocacy related to LGBTIQ+ people, women and/or sexual and reproductive rights before the United Nations or the Inter-American System.
    1 years of experience related to coordination of networking, international cooperation and/or advocacy projects.

(c) Knowledge: the person is expected to have knowledge in:

  • Rights, agendas and situation of LGBTI+ people in Latin America.
  • United Nations Advocacy.
  • Incidence before the IACHR before the IACHR Court.

(d) Minimum requirements: English C1.

e) Residence: he/she may reside in any Latin American country.
