- Position: Research Professional to support the Technical Secretariat of the Regional Network SIn Violencia LGBTI
- Description: The SIn Violencia LGBTI Regional Network is a network of social organizations that monitors and documents homicides of LGBTI people in Latin America and the Caribbean, thereby designing and implementing dissemination and advocacy strategies at the regional level to help prevent, address, investigate and punish bias-based violence. The selected person will work on research, recording and dissemination of data, as well as coordination with members of the Network, and lead pedagogical and logistical aspects for its meetings and events. He/she will be under the supervision of the person who coordinates the Technical Secretariat as well as the General Assembly of the Network.
- Functions: The Research Professional person will report directly to the coordination of the Technical Secretariat of the Network and, within the framework of the project, to Colombia Diversa. Among the main functions are the following:
a) Coordinate research, documentation, registration and dissemination of homicides and other serious human rights violations of LGBTI+ people that advance towards comparability of data in Latin America and the Caribbean.
b) Facilitate articulation processes between the Network's organisations to develop research strategies, communication actions, disseminate the Network's figures and findings, accompany pedagogical processes, and plan strategies for regional and national advocacy.
c) Develop project activity reports to be submitted to constituents, third parties as well as to the Network's Board of Directors for approval. - d) Support the implementation of training and education programmes for activists, human rights defenders, litigants, justice operators and others.
e) Support the internal communication work of the Network Without Violence, sending periodic emails on progress to members, as well as providing information for the development of content for social networks and the website. - f) Support the functioning of the Network's spaces and bodies. This includes activities such as convening the General Assembly, the sessions of the Committees and the Board of Directors, as well as responding to requests and/or requirements of members of the Network.
- g) Support in matters related to the Project. He/she is also expected to provide general support to the project activities, as requested by the Technical Secretariat of the Network and/or Colombia Diversa.
- h) Others that may arise in the development of the activities of the Network Without Violence and designated by the Technical Secretariat.
- Type of contract. Contract for the provision of services, which is governed by the legislation, rates and taxes of the Republic of Colombia. The contract will be signed initially until March 2025 and may be renewed depending on performance and availability of resources.
The person is obliged to submit a monthly activity report, social security form and corresponding collection account for each payment.
The contract has no exclusivity clause associated with it, but in consideration of the focus of the duties, the person is expected to have a full-time dedication (100%) for the execution of the requested tasks.
- Value. The Contract will have a value of approximately 7.500.000 Colombian Pesos (COP) per month.[1]. They will be paid in Colombian pesos for nationals, in the case of foreigners, the same may vary at the time of negotiation with the international bank and will fluctuate according to exchange rates, as well as the corresponding withholdings and taxes.
- Requirements. To be eligible for the position, the person must meet and prove the following requirements:
- a) Undergraduate studies in social sciences, communication sciences, journalism. Postgraduate studies in human rights, social research or related fields will be considered.
- b) Experience: At least four (4) years of experience in research, especially on gender-based violence and violence against LGBTI+ persons.
- c) Languages: Minimum requirements are Spanish C1 and English B1. It will be positively valued: Portuguese and/or French.
- d) Knowledge: The person is expected to have knowledge in:
- Gender-based violence, violence against LGBTIQ+ persons
- Tools and methodologies for social research
- Database management
Place of Residence: It is not necessary for the person to reside in Colombia.
Applications from LGBTI+ people, from an intersectional perspective, residing in Latin America will be positively considered.

- c) Letter of interest.
7.1 Receipt of Applications. Applications will be received between Friday 15 November 2024 and 27 November 2024 11:59pm (Colombia time).
7.2 Evaluation. The Evaluation Committee will pre-qualify the resumes, establishing those that meet the minimum requirements. Subsequently, it will proceed to evaluate and assign a score to them based on the following criteria:
a) Experience for the position (10 points).
b) Academic training (including postgraduate studies and languages) (5 points).
c)Previous experience in research work for LGBTI and/or HRD organisations (5 points)
From this evaluation, the Committee will select the 5 resumes with the highest scores to carry out a written assessment and a subsequent interview.
7.3 Interviews. Each interview will last approximately 25 minutes. The Committee will allocate a score of up to 20 points for the interview. The following aspects will be evaluated:
a)Knowledge related to the position (5 points)
b) Solutions to day-to-day problems of the position to be filled (5 points)
c) Characteristics of previous experience and studies (5 points).
d) Any other aspects on which the Committee decides to inquire (5 points).
7.4 Deliberation and Selection. The Committee shall compare resumes, written evaluations and interviews, and proceed to select the person for the position.
7.5 Acceptance. The Administrative Area of Colombia Diversa will be contacted to request additional documents and prepare the contract. The contract will start on 13 January 2025.
- Inabilities for contracting. Natural persons whose family circle includes an employee or contractor up to the second degree of consanguinity, affinity or civil relationship, who is currently linked to the organisation, will be ineligible to contract goods and services with Colombia Diversa. In the case of legal persons, the same restriction will apply in relation to their board of directors or management.
Those who are linked to any of the Latin American and Caribbean States, as well as the members of the Network's organisations, are ineligible to contract with the Regional Network Without LGBTI Violence, as the Technical Secretariat is an independent body of the Network and therefore also independent of its members.
When the inability arises during the selection process, it shall be understood that the tenderer waives its participation in the process and the rights arising therefrom.
[1] Clarifications on the monthly value of the contract.
(a) Variation in value. The value may vary according to the exchange rate between Colombian pesos and dollars on the day the payment is negotiated each month. It may also vary due to the rates generated between Colombian pesos and the currency of the bank account where the payment will be received. Colombia Diversa will not assume positive or negative differences caused by exchange rates.
(b) Taxes and Withholding Taxes. Likewise, please note that according to the Colombian Legislation the values may be encumbered by fees, taxes or additional obligations. Withholding taxes for payments abroad to foreigners are twenty percent (20%) or as established by the Colombian Legislation in force. In case of being a resident in Colombia, you must pay social security and submit payroll with each collection account of the contract.
(c) Bank Fees for International Transfers. Colombia Diversa will not assume the costs for international transfers and they will be charged to the monthly amount.
