On 29 July, the 'Empodera' school was presented, a pedagogical proposal of the Centre for the Promotion and Defence of Sexual and Reproductive Rights (Promsex) that Colombia Diversa implements in the 'Adelante Diversidad Sexual' project. The training sessions aim to strengthen the knowledge and skills of LGBTI leaders and social organisations in the country, based on their knowledge and experience in the territories they inhabit..

The virtual space was attended by representatives of the Fundación Grupo de Acción y Apoyo a Personas Trans (GAAT, in Bogotá), the Fundación Latidos (Quibdó), the Fundación Sucre Diversa (Sucre), the Fundación Caracolas de Paz (Pasto) and the Fundación Quilichao Diversa (Funqui Diversa, in Santander de Quilichao), five organisations that work for the rights of people with diverse sexual orientations and gender identities in different parts of the country, which will be part of this process that is also being carried out in other regions of Latin America.

The 'Empodera' school, a project carried out with the support of the European Union, is divided into four modules composed of two sessions each, in which the following themes will be addressed: 1. Leadership, 2. The first day of training is expected to begin in the second week of August.

For the development of the school, participants will be provided with a kit of materials for the sessions, and they will be given a financial aid for connectivity, since the strengthening training will be done virtually.

Empodera' will strengthen the skills of social organisations. The aim is to provide them with more tools so that they can develop the projects they wish to implement. Resources will also be provided to carry out the actions they propose.
