Peace and transitional justice lawyer

This call is part of the work of the Peace and Transitional Justice Area of Colombia Diversa, aimed at promoting the participation of LGBTIQ+ people in peacebuilding and strengthening access to justice and comprehensive reparation for victims.

Job profile.

We are looking for a professional with a law degree, with a valid professional card and at least 4 years of experience in human rights, international humanitarian law, peace and transitional justice, constitutional law or criminal law. The role is oriented to the strategic litigation of cases of gender-based violence in the context of the armed conflict, as well as legal advocacy and research processes. Knowledge of gender and differential approaches is required, as well as experience working with LGBTIQ+ population. The selected person should have strong skills for the elaboration and drafting of complex legal and social documents, high analytical skills and availability to carry out field work. Knowledge of qualitative methodologies and interest in research is desirable, as well as fluency in a second language, preferably English.

Description.

The person who performs the functions of this position will work under the coordination of the Peace and Transitional Justice Area of Colombia Diversa or whoever the latter designates as supervisor of the contract and will be in charge of activities related to the promotion of access to transitional justice for victims of gender-based violence in the framework of the armed conflict.

Functions.

The main functions include the following:

  1. Accompany and represent cases of gender-based violence before the Special Jurisdiction for Peace.
  2. Support the construction and execution of litigation strategies for the incorporation of the gender approach before the Special Jurisdiction for Peace.
  3. Participate in the meetings established by the Peace and Transitional Justice Area team with the different bodies of the Integral Peace System.
  4. Work in articulation with partner organisations for the construction of strategies and the production of documents.
  5. Provide consultations and legal advice to victims of gender-based violence.
  6. Advocacy actions before various regional and international bodies on peace, armed conflict and transitional justice.
  7. Draft documents for litigation and advocacy that are part of the objectives of the Peace and Transitional Justice Area.
  8. Representing the organisation at events, roundtables and different scenarios of alliance work or national and international advocacy.
  9. Support follow-up, monitoring and reporting on Peace and Transitional Justice projects.
  10. Complete the documentation requested by donors in support of the contract.
  11. Any other tasks assigned by the Coordination of the Peace and Transitional Justice Area or the Executive Directorate of Colombia Diversa associated with the object of the present contract.
Type of recruitment.

Contrato laboral a término fijo por un (1) año, con periodo de prueba conforme a la legislación laboral vigente.

Remuneration.

El salario mensual tendrá un valor de $4.200.000 M/Cte más prestaciones sociales de ley.

Dedication.

Se espera una dedicación de 40 horas semanales.

Execution time - Start date.

Between late February and early March 2026, subject to finalisation of the selection process and contract signature.

Requirements.
  • Undergraduate degree in law with a valid professional card.
  • Demonstrable professional experience:
      1. At least seventeen (17) months if you have specialised in the fields of criminal law, criminal procedure, international humanitarian law, conflict resolution, human rights, transitional justice or similar.
      2. If not specialised, a total of forty-one (41) months of experience in these areas is required.
  • To be authorised to register in the Register of Lawyers of the Autonomous System of Advice and Defence (SAAD-Victims) to judicially represent cases assigned to the organisation as established in Resolution 857 of 2024, which modified Resolution 786 of 2020.
  • Knowledge of gender and differential approaches, as well as experience working with LGBTIQ+ population.
  • Skills in drafting and writing complex legal and social documents, analytical skills and availability for field work.
  • Fluency in English is desirable.
Place of residence:

It is required that the person resides in Bogotá.
