Call for technical assistance from the Network Without LGBT Violence

We are looking for a person to take on the position of Assistant to support the Technical Secretariat of the Network Without LGBTI+ Violence. We welcome applications from people living in any country in Latin America and the Caribbean.

Position information:
1. Position: Assistant to the Technical Secretariat of the Regional Network Without LGBTI Violence.

2. Description: The Regional Network Without LGBTI Violence is a network of social organizations that monitors and documents homicides of LGBTI people in Latin America and the Caribbean, thereby designing and implementing dissemination and advocacy strategies at the regional level to help prevent, address, investigate and sanction bias-based violence. The selected person will provide technical, operational and research assistance to the Technical Secretariat of the Regional Network Without LGBTI Violence, with emphasis on quantitative and qualitative data analysis, systematization of information, support for the production of reports and accompaniment in internal articulation, research and documentation processes. He/she will be under the supervision of the person who coordinates the Technical Secretariat.

3. Activities to be carried out: The assistant person will report directly to the coordination of the Technical Secretariat of the Network and, within the framework of the project, to Colombia Diversa. Among the main functions are the following:
● Support the collection, organisation and analysis of quantitative and qualitative data on homicides and other serious human rights violations against LGBTIQ+ people in Latin America and the Caribbean.
● Collaborate in the preparation of presentations, dissemination documents and regional advocacy content.
● Accompany in the processes of articulation between the organisations of the Network to develop research strategies, communication actions, dissemination of the Network's figures and findings.
● Assist in making requests and responding to requests from IACHR, IACHR Court and other UN mechanisms (Treaty Committees, etc.).
● Support the internal communications work of the Network Without Violence by sending regular mailings on progress to members.
Support the functioning of the Network's spaces and bodies. It is also expected to provide general support to the operational activities and actions of the project, under the requirements of the Technical Secretariat of the Network.

● Others that may arise in the development of the activities of the Network Without Violence and designated by the Technical Secretariat.

4. Type of contract: Contract for the provision of services, governed by the legislation, rates and taxes of the Republic of Colombia. The contract will be signed initially until November 2025 and may be renewed depending on performance and availability of resources.

5. Value: The Contract will have a value of approximately $3.000.000.000 Colombian Pesos (COP) per month:

6. Qualifications: To be eligible for the position, the person must meet and accredit the following requirements:
Recent graduates of university degrees related to Social Sciences, Data Science, Sociology, Anthropology, Political Science, Gender Studies, Human Rights or other related fields.
● Experience: At least one (1) year of experience in advocacy and/or research, especially on gender-based violence and violence against LGBTI+ persons.
Languages: Minimum requirements are Spanish and English B1. It will be positively valued: Portuguese.
● Knowledge: The person is expected to have knowledge in:
Gender-based violence, violence against LGBTIQ+ people, intersectional perspective.
-Tools and methodologies for social research.
-Database management.
Place of Residence: It is not necessary for the person to reside in Colombia.
Applications from LGBTI+ people, from an intersectional perspective, residing in Latin America will be positively considered.

Clarifications on the monthly value of the contract.
(a) Variation in value. The value may vary according to the exchange rate between Colombian pesos and dollars on the day the payment is negotiated each month. It may also vary due to the rates generated between Colombian pesos and the currency of the bank account where the payment will be received. Colombia Diversa will not assume positive or negative differences caused by exchange rates.
(b) Taxes and Withholding Taxes. Likewise, please note that according to the Colombian Legislation the values may be encumbered by fees, taxes or additional obligations. Withholding taxes for payments abroad to foreigners are twenty percent (20%) or as established by the Colombian Legislation in force. In case of being a resident in Colombia, you must pay social security and submit payroll with each collection account of the contract.
(c) Bank Fees for International Transfers. Colombia Diversa will not assume the costs for international transfers and they will be charged to the monthly amount.

7. Selection Process

7.1. Receipt of Applications. Applications will be received between Friday, 18 July 2008 and Friday, 18 July 2009.

7.2. Evaluation. The Evaluation Committee will pre-qualify the curriculum vitae, establishing

From this evaluation, the Committee will select up to 5 CVs with the highest scores for a written evaluation and a subsequent interview.

7.3. Interviews. Each interview will last approximately 25 minutes. The Committee will allocate a score of up to 20 points for the interview. The following aspects will be assessed:
Knowledge related to the position (5 points)
Solutions to day-to-day problems of the position to be filled (5 points)
Characteristics of previous experience and studies (5 points).
Other aspects on which the Committee decides to inquire (5 points).

7.4. Deliberation and Selection. The Committee shall compare resumes, written evaluations and interviews, and proceed to select the person for the position.
7.5. Acceptance. The Administrative Area of Colombia Diversa will be contacted to request additional documents and prepare the contract. The contract will start in the second half of August 2025.
8. Disqualifications for recruitment
Natural persons whose family circle includes an employee or contractor up to the second degree of consanguinity, affinity or civil relationship, who is currently linked to the organisation, shall be ineligible to contract goods and services with Colombia Diversa.

Note: In the case of trans, non-binary or queer people, it is not necessary for this legal document to reflect your gender identity or gender expression. Please also indicate the pronouns and names by which you identify yourself.

Those who have an employment relationship with any of the States of Latin America and the Caribbean, as well as the members of the organisations of the Network, are ineligible to contract with the Regional Network Without LGBTI Violence, due to the fact that the Technical Secretariat is an independent body of the Network and therefore also independent of its members. When the ineligibility arises during the selection process, it will be understood that the proposer renounces participation in the process and the rights arising from it.
