Context:
In the framework of the Project "Adding Rights: Strengthening the Network of LGBT Litigators of the Americas". financed by Arcus Foundation and operated by Colombia Diversethe Litigation Network LGBT of the Americas presents the following call for applications addressed to university students living in Colombia with an interest in working for the human rights of LGBTI+ people.
This recruitment is a great opportunity for those who want to gain experience working for a network of human rights organisations from various countries in the region, which it represents at the international level. Bisexual, intersex, trans and non-binary people are especially encouraged to apply.
Duration: From 16 November to 31 December with the possibility of extension for 6 months.
Start of the internship: 16 November 2021

The person chosen as assistant to the Technical Secretariat will work under the direction of the Technical Secretariat of the Network and, within the framework of the project, will be accountable to Colombia Diversa.
1. Duties of the post:
Be the technical and logistical support of the Network's Technical Secretariat. This, depending on skills and academic background, may include:
- Development of monthly activity reports and projects.
- Support in the implementation and coordination of legal and political litigation and advocacy actions from the Network of LGBT Litigators of the Americas, which may include the elaboration of thematic reports, amicus curiae before national and international judicial bodies, requests and responses to requests from IACHR/UN Rapporteurs, UN Committees, among other bodies of the ISHR and SUDH.
- Support for the communication work of the Litigation Network.
- It is also expected to provide general support to the project activities, as well as to the requirements of Colombia Diversa as project operator.
2. Terms of office: It shall be governed by the legislation, rates and taxes of the Republic of Colombia. The person shall be obliged to pay social security contributions.
3. Value: The contract will have a value of approximately one million four hundred thousand pesos (1.400.000 m/cte) but may be subject to variation due to exchange rates in the coming year.
4. Dedication: A part-time commitment (approximately 24 hours per week) is expected and would be flexible.
5. Requirements: To become a Technical Secretariat Assistant, the person must meet and prove the following requirements:
a)Undergraduate student in Law, Social Sciences, Communication Sciences. With a proven special interest in Human Rights and/or LGBTIQ+ rights. Minimum Sixth Semester and upwards.
b) Analytical skills, very good writing and written communication skills.
c) Demonstrated interest in LGBTIQ+, women's and/or sexual and reproductive rights issues.
d) Languages: Spanish and English (other languages will be considered as a plus).
e) Knowledge: The person is expected to have knowledge of:
- Agendas and situation of LGBTIQ+ people.
- Affinity, interest or knowledge of International Human Rights Law and/or Constitutional Law and Public International Law and/or International Criminal Law and/or Administrative Law (where applicable)
- Academic research with a gender perspective.

7. Evaluation: The Evaluation Committee will pre-qualify the resumes, selecting those that meet the minimum requirements. Subsequently, it will proceed to evaluate and assign a score to the documents received based on the following criteria:
- Experience (including research experience)
- Academic background
- Demonstrated interest in topics relevant to the position
From this evaluation, the Committee will select the 3 resumes with the highest score for interview, the date of the interview will be previously communicated by e-mail to the pre-selected persons.
7.1 Interviews: They will take place on 15 November. Each interview will last approximately 20 minutes. The Committee will assign a score of up to 20 points for the interview. The following aspects will be assessed:
- Knowledge.
- Solutions to everyday problems of the position to be filled.
- Characteristics of previous experience and studies undertaken.
- Any other aspects on which the Committee decides to inquire.
If you have not received a communication by now, it is because you have not been one of the persons chosen to continue the process.
In the event of a tie or doubt, a written test may be held to determine the person who will be appointed to the post.
7.2 Deliberation and Selection: On 15 November, the Committee will compare the CVs and interviews and proceed to select the person for the post of Technical Secretariat Intern.
7.3 Acceptance: On 15 November, the Administrative Area of Colombia Diversa will be contacted to request additional documents and prepare the contract.
8. Final considerations:
In the case of trans, non-binary intersex or intersex persons queerIt is not necessary for your legal document to reflect your gender identity or gender expression. We also ask you to indicate in the application form the pronouns and names with which you identify yourself.
